synopsis

The Naugatuck Library was built in 1893, and opened under the patronage of J.H. Whittemore. Connected to a bank and adjacent to the town hall, Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot drew a preliminary planting plan for the grounds in 1894. It featured a border of dense shrubbery and trees (plan 01399-Z1).
